How to Keep Your Glass Shower Doors Sparkling Clean

How to clean your glass shower door

There’s nothing like stepping into a beautifully remodeled bathroom with sleek, sparkling glass shower doors. As the owner of a woman-owned remodeling company, I know how much joy and pride new homeowners feel after a bathroom renovation—and I also know how quickly that shine can fade without the right care.

If you’ve just had new glass shower doors installed, or you’re looking to preserve the clarity of your current ones, here’s an easy 3-step method we recommend to all our clients. It’s quick, it’s effective, and it’ll keep your shower doors looking like new for years.

Step 1: Daily — Use a Squeegee

One of the simplest and most effective things you can do every day is use a squeegee right after your shower. This prevents water droplets from drying on the glass and leaving behind mineral deposits and soap scum.

Tip: Keep the squeegee right in the shower so it’s easy to grab before you step out!

Step 2: Weekly — Clean with Sprayway Glass Cleaner

For regular weekly cleaning, we recommend using Sprayway (look for it in an aerosol can). It’s safe, streak-free, and works wonders on standard glass doors. A soft microfiber cloth will help gently buff out any stubborn spots.

Step 3: Annually — Apply Rain-X (with Ventilation!)

Once a year, consider applying Rain-X to your shower doors. It’s designed to repel water and will make your regular cleaning routine even easier. However, because it contains strong chemicals, be sure to open a window or turn on the bathroom fan for proper ventilation while applying.

Bonus Tip: Specialty Glass Option

If you're in the design or remodeling stage, ask about the specialty-treated glass that we can install in ¾” thickness from Hutton. This high-performance treatment is baked right into the glass, offering long-lasting resistance to stains and water spots. It’s a fantastic investment in beauty and low maintenance—just ask us about it during your consultation!

Final Thoughts

No solution is completely maintenance-free, but this 3-step method—daily squeegee use, weekly Sprayway cleaning, and annual Rain-X treatment—will keep your glass looking gorgeous with minimal effort. A little routine care goes a long way!
